Changelog
What is new and improved in words—short notes for players and visitors. We do not list every small fix.
7 May 2026
- New puzzle type: read a short definition and choose the right word. It appears in play when enough reviewed puzzles are available; if you do not see it yet, it will show up as the library grows.
3 May 2026
- Leaderboard at
/leaderboard: see top players for the last 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days (all times in UTC). Scores count correct answers in finished rounds in that window. - Guests get a fun random nickname and avatar. Signed-in players can change nickname and avatar (preset looks, an auto-generated default, or Google profile photo after you connect Google) under Game profile on Me.
- Easier navigation: a compact top bar with Play, Stats, and Me; guests also see Log in and Sign up. When you are signed in, use the avatar menu for account settings and Log out (your Google photo shows when you use Google).
- Total score: your lifetime correct answers appear as a star in the header when it is above zero, and on Stats. Guests keep a score for this browser session until they sign in or clear data.
- Round summary: after you finish a round, the play screen shows how long it took, mix of difficulty, accuracy, and average seconds on timed questions.
- Faster start: beginning a round needs one less step behind the scenes, so you get to the first question sooner.
2 May 2026
- Puzzle quality: we review feedback and data so mistaken or weak items get fixed or removed from play.
- Information pages: About, FAQ, Privacy, and this Changelog, plus a footer on the home page with quick links.
- Findability: when the site is fully configured, we add sensible SEO (titles, sitemap, robots) and optional analytics to understand how people use the app—see Privacy for what that means for you.
30 April 2026
- Pick difficulty before you play: choose a CEFR level (e.g. A2, B1) or a range (e.g. B1–B2) so rounds match the level you want.
- Clearer feedback: each question can show its level so results and stats feel easier to read.
25 April 2026
- Rate a puzzle (signed in): after you submit an answer, you can mark the item good or bad. That helps us find mistakes and improve the set you play from.
24 April 2026
- Round options: before you start, choose task type (for example synonym or antonym) and difficulty so each round only uses puzzles that match.
- Stats page (
/stats) for signed-in players: aggregates from your play history. - Look and feel on Me: theme and text size preferences (saved in your browser).
- Antonym puzzles brought in line with the same style and quality bar as synonym puzzles, with updated generation behind the scenes.
22–23 April 2026
- Reliability and fairness: stricter limits on heavy use so the game stays responsive for everyone.
- Install on your home screen: web app manifest and icons so you can add words like an app on many phones and tablets (online use; no offline mode yet).
- Antonym content path and fixes so opposite-meaning rounds work smoothly.
20 April 2026
- First playable version: word practice in the browser with optional account—play as a guest or sign up.
- Sign in with email or Google; you can link a guest session to an account and keep progress.
- Synonym rounds, feedback after each answer, and a short summary when the round ends.
Where we are headed
